The ADI Negev–Nahalat Eran
Research Institute

The ADI Negev–Nahalat Eran Research Institute is responsible for initiating, coordinating and leading clinical research in the fields of rehabilitation and disabilities. Since its establishment, the Institute has focused on promoting groundbreaking applied research that advances rehabilitation medicine and improves care for individuals with disabilities.

The Institute currently oversees dozens of clinical studies spanning rehabilitation medicine, assistive technologies, physiological monitoring, and intellectual and developmental disabilities, approved by the local Institutional Review Board (IRB). Operating within an active rehabilitation village and medical center allows the Institute to bridge scientific innovation with real-world clinical needs, creating a uniquely translational research environment.

The Lillian and David E. Feldman Research Center for Rehabilitation Sciences

The Lillian and David E. Feldman Research Center for Rehabilitation Sciences is the Institute’s main department in rehabilitation and disability research, with more than 20 active rehabilitation and disability studies currently underway. The majority of these studies are conducted as part of published research articles. Some are part of academic collaborations associated with advanced degree research programs for ADI clinicians. Others are led by start-up companies conducting clinical research among the various populations at ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran.

ACoRD – ADI Negev Corpus of
Rehabilitation Data

Complementing CIDRA is ACoRD – the ADI Negev Corpus of Rehabilitation Data, an ambitious project designed to redefine how rehabilitation data are collected, integrated, and analyzed. ACoRD combines structured clinical records with continuous physiological monitoring collected through advanced wearable and environmental sensors, generating a multidimensional view of the rehabilitation process that has rarely been available in existing datasets.

The project integrates measures such as sleep quality, stress levels, heart-rate variability, respiratory patterns, mobility, and behavioral activity alongside detailed clinical assessments, with the long-term goal of building one of the world’s most comprehensive rehabilitation datasets. By combining large-scale longitudinal data with advanced AI-based analytics, ACoRD aims to uncover previously inaccessible insights into recovery trajectories and individualized rehabilitation responses across diverse patient populations. As CIDRA and ACoRD is still in its formative stages, there is a genuine opportunity to shape its scientific direction through strategic partnerships with leading international medical and research institutions.

CIDRA – Cognitive Impairment Data Repository ADI Negev

One of the Institute’s flagship initiatives is CIDRA – the Cognitive Impairment Data Repository ADI Negev, an initiative focused on addressing one of the most significant unmet needs in the IDD field: the lack of rich, structured, longitudinal clinical data on individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

CIDRA is building a comprehensive research infrastructure through the systematic collection of multidimensional data, including full genomic sequencing, biological samples, brain MRI, and detailed clinical phenotyping from a large, well-characterized population. The repository is intended to enable transformative research into genotype–phenotype relationships across a broad range of syndromes and genetic conditions, with the long-term aim of advancing precision, evidence-based interventions for people with IDD.
